Upadted ATAGI statement on AstraZeneca Vaccine

Jul 23, 2021

In ATAGI’s statement on 24 July 2021, the following advice was issued in relation to the AstraZeneca vaccine in an out-break setting:

  • All individuals aged 18 years and above in greater Sydney, including adults under 60 years of age, should strongly consider getting vaccinated with any available vaccine including COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca. This is on the basis of the increasing risk of COVID-19 and ongoing constraints of Comirnaty (Pfizer) supplies.

  • In addition, people in areas where outbreaks are occurring can receive the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine 4 to 8 weeks after the first dose, rather than the usual 12 weeks, to bring forward optimal protection.

Should you have any questions please discuss with your doctor.

COVID -19 Lockdown

Jun 25, 2021

We will remain opening during this period, however for the safety of our patients, the community and our team we prefer all appointments to be done via telehealth.

Should you require an urgent face to face consultation, please call reception on (02) 9921 1708.

Please note we are NO LONGER performing COVID 19 testing.

The closest testing facility is the Histopath Drive Through Clinic at the Chifley Reserve on Bunnerong Road. You do not need a GP referral. If you think you need to be tested but also to be checked physically you can book with the Bondi Junction Respiratory Clinic

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this period.

RESPIRATORY CLINIC

We will continue to run a Respiratory Clinic each afternoon for patients including children experiencing any symptoms however  WE NOW ASK ANY PATIENTS (INCLUDING CHILDREN) ATTENDING THE RESPIRATORY CLINIC TO SHOW A NEGATIVE COVID 19 TEST RESULT WITHIN THE LAST 24-48 HOURS.

ATAGI's updated advice for AstraZeneca vaccine

Jun 16, 2021

In ATAGI’s statement on 17 June 2021, the following advice was issued in relation to the AstraZeneca vaccine:

  • ATAGI recommends the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine as the preferred vaccine for those aged 16 to under 60 years;

  • For those aged 60 years and above, the individual benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine are greater than in younger people. The risks of severe outcomes with COVID-19 increase with age and are particularly high in older unvaccinated individuals. The benefit of vaccination in preventing COVID-19 with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca outweighs the risk of TTS in this age group and underpins its ongoing use in this age group.

  • People of any age without contraindications who have had their first dose of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca without any serious adverse events should receive a second dose of the same vaccine.

Should you have any questions please discuss with your doctor.
