COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

As the vaccine arrives in multi-dose vials, we will be running dedicated COVID-19 vaccination clinics in order to prevent vaccine wastage.

 

These clinics are for the administration of the COVID-19 Vaccine only. The COVID-19 vaccine can not be given other than at these clinics.

 

If you have any questions or other health concerns, please make a separate appointment with your doctor BEFORE your COVID -19 vaccination appointment. 

 

If you have had another vaccine in the 7 days before your COVID-19 vaccine appointment, please let us know as we will need to reschedule your appointment.

How do I make a booking?


Bookings can be made online via HotDoc.

Please make your appointment online as Hotdoc has been streamlined to collect the necessary information, consent and will also prompt you to book the appointment for your second dose.

We will be receiving a limited number of vaccines as allocated by the government on a regular basis. Should there be no appointments available DO NOT call the Practice. Please check HotDoc regularly as we will be making appointments available as we receive stock. We thank you for your patience and understanding.




How do I prepare for my appointment?


1. Ensure your details are update to date with Medicare: this can be done via

  • Medicare online account through myGov;
  • the Express Plus Medicare app;
  • calling the Medicare program.

2. If you have any concerns about the vaccine please see your doctor BEFORE making a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
3. Please ensure you have all the necessary documents in order including signed consent form and proof of eligibility. If possible, please submitt your consent form through HotDoc and email a copy of proof of eligibility to us prior to your appointment.

Please DO NOT attend a COVID-19 vaccination appointment if you:

  • Are unwell with fever, cough, runny nose or other symptoms that could be from COVID-19;
  • Are awaiting COVID-19 test results;
  • Have tested positive with COVID-19 and you are in isolation;
  • Are in quarantine;
  • Are a close contact of someone with COVID-19.

Please call the Practice to reschedule your appointment. We ask that you provide the Practice with as much notice as possible to minimise vaccine wastage. We note that our usual Cancellation Policy applies.




What happens at my appointment?


1. Check in

  • Please advise our reception staff that you are here for your COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Our receptionist will obtain all the necessary documentation from you and check that you have booked your appointment for your second dose.
  • Our nurse will take your temperature.

2. Receiving the vaccine

  • Your doctor will check your eligibility and provide information about the vaccine.
  • Please tell your immunisation provider if you have any medical conditions or if you are taking any medications. Especially make sure to tell them if you:
    • Have had anaphylaxis (a type of severe allergic reaction) to any substance, or if you have an adrenaline autoinjector (e.g. EpiPen);
    • Have had a reaction to any vaccine in the past;
    • Have a bleeding disorder or are receiving anticoagulant therapy (a blood thinner);
    • Are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy;
    • Are immunocompromised (i.e. have a weakened immune system or take immune suppressing medication);
    • Have received another COVID-19 vaccine (and which brand);
    • Have received any vaccine in the last 7 days.
  • Your doctor will then ask for your consent before proceeding with the immunisation. You will receive the vaccine as an injection, most commonly into your upper arm muscle.

3. After you receive the vaccine

You must remain in our waiting room for observation for at least 15 minutes after vaccination. Depending on your medical history, you may be asked to wait in the clinic for 30 minutes.

Please advise reception staff immediately if you start to feel unwell.




Will I be charged for the COVID -19 vaccine?


The vaccine is bulk billed for all eligible patients with a current Medicare card.




How can I prove I've been vaccinated?


You can already access their immunisation history statement through Medicare for proof of vaccination, both digitally and in hard copy. Statements can be viewed on your Medicare online account or via the Medicare app. Your immunisation history statement will record your COVID-19 vaccinations, following each dose.

What if I don't have a Medicare card?


People who are not eligible for Medicare can still receive a free COVID-19 vaccination service at a General Practitioner led Respiratory Clinic or at a NSW vaccination clinic.
